Harahan Pump to the River

Jefferson Parish, LA

This is a unique project in terms of complexity, administration, design, and rights of way to relieve chronic flooding in the southeastern portion of the east bank of Jefferson Parish via Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).

Of the COE: A 700’ long Suction canal; a 1,200 cfs pumping station; Three 9,000’ long 84” diameter discharge piping to the Mississippi River levee, Reinforced concrete levee crossing of discharge pipes; Reinforced concrete discharge basin in Mississippi River; coordination with local community, regulatory agencies and DOTD regarding a very old oak tree (the Old Dickory); and relocation of several high tension electrical transmission towers.
